Background: Originally used for mining blasting in coal mines in the 1890's in Europe. During WWl it was bought by the military for use in trench/mining warfare. Westfalit as a commercial explosives was based on ammonium nitrate,some TNT, DNT formula. This explosive was also widely used during the second world war by Germany.
